State archaeological museum

The territory of Arcevia offers sites that cover every phase of the ancient history of man, from the Paleolithic to the Roman age.

...

The State Archaeological Museum collects evidence of human presence in the area from prehistoric times to the Roman age

In the first room are exposed the finds of the lithic industry of Ponte di  Pietra (upper Paleolithic), followed by the artefacts found in the famous defensive moat of Conelle (Copper Age). The village of Monte Croce-Guardia dates back to the Bronze Age, with its remains of activities related to transhumant sheep farming. Finally, two rooms are dedicated to the rich Gallic sepulchre (IV-III century BC) and the sanctuary found in Montefortino. Here we can see the weapons and the beautiful jewels that belonged to one of the richest Celtic communities in Italy.
